endometriosis, a poem by e.h. lemon

Updated: Sep 2, 2021

"i cannot see you now

but i hope you do not feel unseen"

a helpless ode to ovaries

that reproduce then wheeze

if i trim my breast and underbelly

will you lose your shade?

that metaphorical sass you traded in

to be on display

oh, artemis

you crazy bitch

why can't you let me let go

you stand between me and my knees

sometimes i hate you ho

"bleed for me, just bleed" i cry

i've never felt so ashamed

excluded from my own body's conversation

like existing without a name
