Feature: Friday Fundraising Collective

Updated: Sep 1, 2021

The Friday Fundraising Collective started in June 2020 with two members choosing to highlight organizations that directly support and uplift Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

It has quickly grown to almost 70 members from all around the country in a short time, dedicated to making a change using our social media platforms!

When asked about their process, the collective shares the following:

"Every Friday, we focus on an organization that has a smaller social media following and is doing work to support Black, Indigenous, and people of color around the world.

"The way we fundraise is by asking our followers to vote on a poll asking them how much they would like to donate (usually between $3 and $20). We then request them the amount through various apps, and at the end of the 24 hours of each respective poll, we pool the donations, donate to the organization, and post the receipt for the donation on our social media!"

"We also raise funds on Mutual Aid Mondays for individuals in need of mutual aid, and we dedicate at least one Friday a month to a mutual aid request as well.

"By engaging our followers and removing steps from the donation process, making it easier and accessible for people as they swipe through stories, we have raised and redistributed upwards of $95,000 since June, and hope to continue to donate to amazing organizations and mutual aid funds!!"

You can support the Friday Fundraising Collective by following them on Instagram (@fridayfundraisingcollective) and be sure to engage with their fundraisers to provide mutual aid for BIPOC individuals and organizations!
